Thousands of counter-protesters gathered across the UK on Saturday in response to rioting fuelled by the far right that took cities and towns by storm following the Southport knife attack in which three children were killed last week. Confrontations with anti-immigration protesters did not take place as expected, but a petrol bomb was thrown at a mosque early Saturday in Northern Ireland, which has seen unrest since last weekend.
