Contrary to what President Emmanuel Macron had envisioned when he called for early elections Sunday, Macron and his party Renaissance could end up "sandwiched" between the far right and a unified left-wing coalition, FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman said. “Out of the 577 seats, it shows that 536 of them – so essentially 90 percent – you will have National Rally candidates versus leftist candidates,” Perelman said, citing projections from French daily Le Figaro, adding that it would be a "nightmare scenario" for Macron.
